Ms Nixon commenced duty as Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police on 23 rd April 2001, after service with the New South Wales Police Force from 1972.
Ms Nixon is the C.E.O. of Victoria Police, an organisation of 12,800 staff and an annual budget of $1.2 billion operating out of 550 work locations, including 330 police stations, throughout the State.
Ms Nixon is the Chair of the Australian Police Professional Standards Council, Co-Chair of the Australian Institute of Police Management and Sponsor of the Australasian Police Multicultural Advisory Bureau.
