Young Adults Learning through Cultural Engagement in Europe (YALTCEE)

The Nordic Heritage Learning Centre (NCK) aims to develop and promote the life-long learning processes carried out in the Cultural Heritage Institutions in the Nordic countries. Heritage learning includes the pedagogy of the:

  • arts
  • museums
  • archives
  • cultural environments

The cultural heritage in its various forms can further the competence and community spirit of individuals, generate new business ideas and contribute the knowledge necessary for a sustainable development. Through collaborations, practise-near research and a pedagogical approach, NCK aims to make the cultural heritage easily accessible and to integrate the cultural heritage, arts and learning with the ongoing development of society. This will contribute to life-long learning process, sustainable growth and regional development.

NCK is a network-based cooperation between diffrent organisations engaged in Heritage Learning initiatives. NCK is based in Östersund, Sweden. This is a place where knowledge is built through heritage learning, it is a forum where you can gain information, exchange ideas and make new contacts. Some of the methods NCK uses to further heritage learning are. training sessions, research projects, meetings and the publishing of information.

One of the projects The Nordic Centre of Heritage Learning co-ordinates is an EU Grundtvig partnership project called YALTCEE (Young adults learning through cultural engagement in Europe). Participants are from Germany, Italy, Scotland and Sweden.  To view the mid-term report of the project please see attachment below.
